Spring avian migration is underway for the 2026 season! Warblers, vireos, kinglets, raptors, and more are flying northward to their breeding grounds.

Some birds will stay around and establish nests in NYC, while others may visit for a quick recharge, foraging on insects and plants, and seeking shelter, before continuing their long arduous journey. To learn about helping birds in NYC and beyond, visit NYC Bird Alliance.

Recently on an FBC walk at Prospect Park to benefit South Brooklyn Mutual Aid, we observed a Palm, Yellow-rumped, and Pine warbler foraging along the water’s edge. Earlier in the day, we admired the soft song of a Rusty Blackbird, and the squeaks and bops of a Red-breasted Nuthatch. We hope to see you in the field soon!
