SUMMARY:Cutie Crawlies – Bug Night in Prospect Park
DESCRIPTION:Join FBC NYC for another evening of insect surveying! \nRSVP and more info via this Google Form \nNYC is located in the middle of a huge ancient\, avian migratory flyway! Like birds\, many bugs migrate\, relying on winds and celestial objects/light for navigation. \nWe’ll use UV light to attract night-flying insects\, admire their diversity of shapes\, colors\, behaviors\, discuss their importance\, and record our observations with iNaturalist (optional). We will be coming off of a new moon (low illumination)\, which can be good conditions for doing a bug light. \nThe last few weeks we’ve been observing many caddisflies\, beetles\, cicadas\, lacewings\, mating damselflies\, moths (big and small)\, spiders\, and more!
